This is also a picture taken on my blackberry, so apologies for the low level of detail. I did this acrylic painting for my friend Ani’s birthday, since she loves les chouettes, or owls. It’s about 18”x30” so not that big but it’s super cute.

I’m going to start uploading various works of art as I complete or begin them - my first posting is of a work in progress.

This is an acrylic painting done by me and my friend Sam…it’s a quasi-copy of the second picture, which is of an oil done by Ernst Kirchner, one of my favorite artists to copy as well as in general. We changed a lot of the colors and textures of the original but you can’t really see too much detail because I took the picture on my blackberry. It’s approximately 42”x24” and is one of the largest pieces I’ve done so far.

When you start to know someone, all their physical characteristics start to disappear. You begin to dwell in their energy, recognize the scent of their skin. You see only the essence of the person, not the shell. That’s why you can’t fall in love with beauty. You can lust after it, be infatuated by it, want to own it. You can love it with your eyes and your body but not your heart. And that’s why, when you really connect with a person’s inner self, any physical imperfections disappear, become irrelevant.

Murray Templeton was forty-five years old, in the prime of life, and with all parts of his body in perfect working order except for certain key portions of his coronary arteries, but that was enough.

The pain had come suddenly, had mounted to an unbearable peak, and had then ebbed steadily….

beachin it for the next weeeeeeeekkkkkkkkk ahhhhh!!!!!!!!!!

ok. bye.

coffee, further conclusions

  • grizzly bear was amazing live - unbelievable how Edward Droste’s voice delivers on the recorded album’s promise. dude can sing, unlike other dude from band of horses, who failed to live up to disc-touted potential
  • band of horses, not so much fun. dunno why a brooklyn show would have them as headliners over local favs GB. all i knows is that the BoH set was a meek nerdfest in comparison to the frenzied throng for GB
  • leaving two - three songs early was a bang idea, monotony had set in and we were able to hit the ice cream truck pre crowd, although we did see dozens of others streaming out alongside us. guess BoH isn’t the type of set you see through to the end
  • sea is a bumpin locale for a bite even at 10pm on a sunday. dayum. wish i lived closer - jose and i had a delish multi course din for under $25 total. although i learned that toooo much ginja on da rice aint ma fav
  • frens + music + summer sun + riverbank + summer sun set on riverbank = h a p p i n e s s h a p p e n i n g
  • cats < dogs < grizzly bears

life these days

today is a good day. not a crazy busy day like yesterday, or monday, but nice and relaxed, just how i like it. i really like a day where i can plug in my earphones and jam out while crunching numbers or writing a report or doing something straight off with no distractions.

i’m feeling happy. things with my relationship are going well - we’ve decided to try to spend more time outside our apartment and try to develop more of our own individual friends and interests. I think we were both sort of feeling cramped in that we always did everything together and were finding it difficult to meet new people and make new friends.

in that spirit, i am going to brooklyn tonight to check out drink n draw, something i mentioned a few posts back. i am really excited! i think kaitlyn is going to come along tonight as well, so it won’t be as intimidating as it might otherwise be. Fully expecting to be totally blown away and humbled by the skillz - i fully admit my amateur status.

My lady is doing a lot too. she’s going to take a GRE class and start getting ready to apply for psy.d programs next year. i am so proud of her!

so much to be happy for even if the skies are grey right now. drink n draw tonight! hump day is half over! the riviera / arras / paris / london in 9 days! WHEEEEEEEEE

booooo

the mildly busy day has turned into a really, really looooong day. still in the office at 10:15. i’d forgotten how grueling the working life can be - it’s been ages since I was stuck at my desk this late. typically only happens once a quarter when I do my client reports for the office.

i need to go home and find / iron a good suit. totally forgot i have a client meeting tomorrow and need to be in the office at 830 am (as opposed to the usual 10 am) for a preparatory call. i’m meeting with the general counsel and deputy general counsel of a major insurance and private equity firm, ‘cause i’m VIP like that. i hope i have a clean button down available. also, i need a nicer work bag. you don’t show up to park ave with a longchamps tote.

ugh. stupid people with money making me try to look like i have money too. it’s expensive!

right now, people in manila are busily working up the edits to a document i sent over. globalization at work. i hope they hurry so i can PEACE ON OUT.

i like busy days

busy enough where you don’t feel the agonizing slow-crawl of the seconds of the day but laid-back enough where you can dream a lil’ on the side.

i want to try taking classes / attending model sessions meant for figure drawing. it’s a skill i’ve always wanted to further develop. thus far i’ve decided to check out:

http://www.3rdward.com/drink-n-draw/

Wednesdays, 8-10:30. a hike to brooklyn off the morgan L but hopefully worth it for the supposedly chill ‘artistic community’ vibe. hopefully i can convince a friend to come with so it’s only $10 per sesh instead of $15.

also:

http://www.springstudiosoho.com/schedule.html

This one has both model sessions and instructive courses. $15 per sesh as well but less if you book a bunch in advance. this seems like it would be an older crowd and a smaller more intimate setting, but it’s got sessions every day of the week and it seems like a super cheap way of getting some more hands-on instruction and feedback. no beer but oh well!

now back to the snoredom!
